Lawyers march on Taksim Square

The Turkish prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has met 11 activists to discuss plans to redevelop an Istanbul park, the issue that sparked off unprecedented anti-government demonstrations.

Protesters have dismissed the talks, saying the activists, who include academics and artists, do not represent them.

Several hundred lawyers marched on Taksim Square to object to the brief detention of over 70 colleagues a day earlier.
