Edward Snowden to request political asylum in Russia

The fugitive American intelligence analyst Edward Snowden has said he wants to request political asylum in Russia.

A spokesperson for Human Rights Watch in Moscow said Mr Snowden, who has been in the transit zone of Moscow airport for the last three weeks, wanted to stay in Russia until he can travel to Latin America.

The move followed a meeting between Mr Snowden and human rights groups - Steve Rosenberg reports from Sheremetyevo airport.
