Protests continue in Turkey after anniversary

Police in Turkey have once again fired tear gas and water cannon at hundreds of demonstrators in Ankara - a day after violent clashes on the first anniversary of anti-government protests.

The Council of Europe's commissioner for human rights condemned the excessive use of force by the Turkish police.

On Saturday, thousands of police officers were deployed in Istanbul to prevent protesters from defying a ban on demonstrations in Taksim Square and Gezi Park.

Ciara Riordan reports.
