Second abandoned migrant ship drifting off Italy

The Italian coastguard is co-ordinating a rescue operation for a merchant ship adrift off the south-east coast of Italy.

The ship has about 400 migrants but no crew on board.

Poor weather conditions are reported to be making it impossible to board the Sierra Leone flagged vessel.

Earlier this week, almost 1,000 migrants were rescued from another ship found abandoned without any crew.

Ben Bland reports.
