Greens oppose EU's eCall car emergency system

The European Parliament has voted to get an emergency call device installed in all new cars.

The new eCall system will become law from 31 March 2018, with the aim of reducing deaths in road accidents.

But critics say the automatic data transfers could undermine personal privacy.

Green MEP Jan Phillip Albrecht told the BBC in Strasbourg why his party had voted against it.
