New Odessa governor Saakashvili 'will tackle corruption'

The new governor of the southern Ukrainian region of Odessa has spoken to the BBC in his first televised interview.

Mikheil Saakashvili was appointed by President Petro Poroshenko in a surprise move at the weekend.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has criticised the decision, while current Georgian authorities have accused Mr Saakashvili of abuse of power and have called for his extradition.

He told the BBC's David Stern he would take on corruption and criminal groups, and said his appointment showed it was no longer "business as usual".
