Ukraine crisis: Shelling in eastern Ukraine kills nine

Nine people have died in a surge in fighting in eastern Ukraine between government forces and Russian-supported rebels.

Two Ukrainian soldiers and several civilians are amongst the dead.

It is some of the worst fighting since a ceasefire was announced in February and this is fuelling fears of an escalation in the conflict.
