Puigdemont: Catalan ex-president says Spain has a 'democratic deficit'

Catalonia's sacked president says he is committed to achieving self-determination for the region through dialogue, after Madrid imposed direct rule following an illegal independence referendum.

Speaking in Brussels, Carles Puigdemont hit out at the Spanish government and justice system, saying there is a "democratic deficit" in the country.
