Rio's landscapes given Unesco World Heritage status

The city of Rio de Janeiro has been named a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

The "marvellous city", as it is known in Brazil, was chosen by the World Heritage Committee for its blend of urban, coastal and mountainous landscapes.

This year Unesco has chosen a total of 26 new World Heritage Sites.
