Garcia Marquez fans pay tribute at memorial

A public commemoration of Nobel prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez has taken place in Mexico City.

The 87-year-old died on Thursday and was considered the finest writer of the Spanish language since Cervantes.

At the same time, residents in his home town of Aracataca in northern Colombia held a symbolic funeral.
