World Cup: How one night ended 24 years of hurt

Germany are celebrating winning the World Cup for the fourth time after beating Argentina 1-0 in a packed Maracana stadium in Rio.

An estimated one billion people worldwide watched Mario Gotze's golden goal, just seven minutes from the end of extra time.

A small consolation for Argentina, their captain Lionel Messi was named the tournament's best player.
