First winds of Hurricane Patricia hit Mexican town

The strongest hurricane ever recorded has hit Mexico's Pacific coast, threatening a "potentially catastrophic" impact.

Mexican authorities have begun evacuating residents ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Patricia.

Wind speeds mounted, ripping across the coast line and through the streets in the port of Manzanillo in Mexico.
