Rio's carnival meets the 2016 Olympics

Brazil’s world-famous carnival parades have started in Rio de Janeiro, with huge floats and lush costumes designed for the big competition in the city’s Sambadrome.

As it is the year of the first Latin American Olympics, the 2016 Games are favourite themes of the samba schools.

The BBC's Julia Carneiro reports from the parade of the Uniao da Ilha samba school in Rio.
