Ehud Barak quits Israel's Labour Party

The Israeli Defence Minister, Ehud Barak, is resigning from the Labour party, which he leads, in order to remain in the governing coalition of Benjamin Netanyahu. Mr Barak will now form a new party called Independence.

The move follows months of tensions within the Labour party over whether to remain part of the Israeli government, following criticism of Mr Netanyahu's handling of the Middle East peace process.

The BBC's Tim Willcox spoke to Einat Wilf, who is one of four Labour MPs joining Ehud Barak's Independence party.
