Bahrain protesters enter Pearl Square in Manama

Thousands of anti-government protesters in Bahrain have entered Pearl Square in the capital Manama.

Riot police retreated after firing tear gas and shot gun rounds, injuring some 60 people local reports say.

The army was earlier ordered out.

Local residents spoke of their joy as they entered the square.
