Uprising in Libya has reached Tripoli

The uprising in Libya has reached Tripoli, the latest Arab capital to be hit by the wave of rebellion sweeping across the region.

There are reports that Col Muammar Gaddafi has lost control of major cities and that several ministers and officials have resigned.

Dozens of anti-government protesters have been killed in a brutal crackdown.

BBC correspondent Ian Pannell reports from neighbouring Tunisia.
