Libya must 'face the cost' of violation of human rights

US President Barack Obama has called the violence in Libya outrageous and said his administration was looking at the full range of options for dealing with the crisis.

It was Barack Obama's first televised statement since the start of the violence in Libya.

The US, the EU and the UN have faced criticism for not acting and speaking more forcefully in relation to events in Libya.
