Syria protests: UK sanctions threat to government

The UK foreign secretary has said Britain will work with other countries to urge sanctions against Syria's leaders if they continue to use violence against protesters.

William Hague called on President Assad to end the "violent repression" of his people, in favour of the "immediate and genuine reform" which he said was the only way to "provide peace and stability in Syria".
