Clinton: "The world will not waver, Assad must go"
A meeting of 83 countries in Istanbul has told Syria it must take the opportunity which now exists to halt the violence against its own citizens.
The meeting decided to recognise the opposition group, the Syrian National Council, as representing all Syrians. It also urged Syrian soldiers to disobey any orders to kill or injure civilians.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, addressed the meeting, saying that it was the first step towards a better future for the people of Syria.
