Syria: Former rebel stronghold Homs 'virtual ghost town'

The BBC's Lyse Doucet has been in the former rebel stronghold of Homs, which was the scene of fierce fighting between government and opposition.

She said she could hear birdsong and bullets in the distance, despite an apparent ceasefire.

UN observers have been patrolling the city but entire neighbourhoods appear deserted.

Meanwhile an explosion hit a Syrian military truck escorting a convoy of UN observers near the city of Deraa, seconds after UN staff had passed by.
