Syria crisis: UN says weapons must be put aside

Damascus must ensure that its forces go "back to the barracks" in order to move forward in resolving Syria's bloody conflict, the head of the UN's observer mission to the country has said.

Speaking to the BBC's Lyse Doucet, Major General Robert Mood suggested that the onus was also on civilians in Syrian villages to try and act in a way that would help to bring peace.
