UN monitor Maj Gen Mood: 'Syria violence is escalating'

The head of the UN observer mission in Syria has said monitors cannot resume their work in the country until there is an end to the bloodshed.

Speaking to the BBC, Major General Robert Mood said that violence in the country was "escalating".

However, he cautioned against increasing numbers or arming observers as an easy solution to enable them to resume their mission.
