Bicycle bomb kills up to 18 in Herat in Afghanistan

A bicycle bomb has reportedly killed up to 18 people at a busy market in Herat in western Afghanistan.

The bombing came a day after a series of attacks killed up to 50 people across the war-torn country.

Officials told the BBC that explosives were strapped to a bicycle and exploded close to a police check post.

The bazaar is in the city centre and was packed with families shopping in preparation for the end of Ramadan.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
