Appeal for Lebanon calm after Wissam al-Hassan death

Lebanon's army has urged the country's political leaders to show caution when expressing their opinions, in a bid to calm "unprecedented" tensions.

The move came after clashes broke out in several areas, following the killing of a senior security official General Wissam al-Hassan on Friday.

The worst clashes overnight were in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, where at least three people died - and there have also been reports of sporadic exchanges of gunfire there and in Beirut on Monday.

Wyre Davies reports from Beirut.
