Syria rebels 'capture key army base' in the east

Syrian rebels say they have taken control of a strategic oil-producing region in the east of the country, bordering Iraq.

The rebels say fighters have captured the last government stronghold at Mayadeen, in Deir al-Zor province after a three-week siege.

There has been no confirmation by the Syrian government.
