Kuwait election: Opposition hails boycott after low turnout

Opposition groups in Kuwait say their demand for a boycott of the country's parliamentary election was a success and have called the new chamber unconstitutional.

Election officials said the turnout was about 39%, compared with 60% in February polls.

The opposition - both Islamists and liberals - had called for the boycott claiming new rules favoured pro-government candidates.
