Syrian 'relief' at lack of US military strike

Many moderate Syrian people are relieved that the prospect of US military action has receded

A Russian proposal for Syria to place its chemical weapons under international control has received international support instead of US led bombing strikes.

The BBC's Jeremy Bowen in Damascus reports that the move has angered Syrian opposition groups who had hoped the US would aid their chances of toppling President Assad.
