Syria election: Hassan al-Nouri on presidential bid
Syria is holding presidential elections on Tuesday, and it is the first multi-candidate contest for the post.
The West has branded the process as a farce, and President Bashar al-Assad is widely expected to win a third seven-year term in office.
Hassan al-Nouri, a former minister of Bashar al-Assad's cabinet, is one of two men running against the current president.
He told the BBC that he could be "a strong competitor" to President Assad, without being his "enemy".
