Iraq crisis: John Kerry in Baghdad as Isis rebels advance

US Secretary of State John Kerry has vowed "intense and sustained support" for Iraq after meeting key politicians in the capital, Baghdad.

His visit comes as Sunni insurgents expand their control of towns across the country's north and west.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government has, for the first time, acknowledged that "hundreds" of soldiers have been killed in fighting with the ISIS militants.

BBC World Affairs Editor John Simpson reports from Baghdad.
