Gaza conflict: Rescue mission to reach Gaza wounded

Palestinians in the south of the Gaza Strip have been fleeing in panic from their homes as Israeli troops continue their ground offensive.

At least 649 Palestinians and 32 Israeli soldiers, plus three Israeli civilians, have been killed in the past 15 days of fighting, officials say.

On Wednesday Red Cross officials announced a temporary "ceasefire" in two zones, Khan Younis and Shejaiya, so that they could evacuate wounded civilians.

Lyse Doucet reports.
