Cairo building collapse leaves 17 dead

At least 17 people have been killed after a block of flats collapsed in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Seven people were also injured when the eight-storey building in the western suburb of Matariya collapsed overnight.

Building collapses happen regularly in Egypt due to illegal construction, and poor enforcement of regulations.

Orla Guerin reports.
