Shimon Peres’ wish for peace lives on - Yossi Beilin

Tributes are being paid to the former Israeli President Shimon Peres, who has died aged 93.

The veteran statesman broke with his hawkish past to champion peace efforts with the Palestinians and was awarded a Nobel peace prize in 1994 for his role in negotiating the Oslo Accords, along with then Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Former Israeli Justice Minister Yossi Beilin, an architect of the agreement, told the BBC’s Orla Guerin how he thought Mr Peres would want to be remembered.
