EU raises aid to Pakistan by 30m Euro

The European Union says it will spend an extra 30m euros ($25m) to fund emergency aid for victims of devastating floods in Pakistan.

The announcement brings the total promised by the EU to 70m euros ($90m), excluding money donated by individual EU member states.

Announcing the increase, EU international aid commissioner Kristalina Georgieva said the commitments of individual member states was also growing, bringing the total donated by the EU to 115m Euro ($150m), a third of what the UN has called for.
