Rare treasures from Afghanistan revealed in new exhibition

A major new exhibition opens at the British Museum in London this week.

Afghanistan: Crossroads of the Ancient World showcases some rare treasures which were nearly lost during the years of Taliban control and civil unrest in the country.

The items were kept hidden until the fall of the Taliban and the museum's experts say they offer a fascinating insight into Afghan history and trade.

Exhibition curator St John Simpson gave BBC News a tour of some of the highlights.
