Violent Afghan protests over Nato raid

Twelve people have been killed and 80 injured after protests over a Nato-led raid in the northern Afghan city of Taloqan, Afghan officials say.

Some 2,000 demonstrators, some of them armed, took part, carrying the bodies of the four civilians they said died in the raid.

They looted shops and tried to attack a German army base.

Nato said the four people who died in the raid were insurgents. Protesters and local police say all were civilians.
