Afghanistan suicide bomb attack kills police chief Daud

At least six people have been killed in a suicide bomb attack on the provincial governor's compound in Takhar, Afghanistan.

Gen Mohammad Daud Daud, the police commander for northern Afghanistan, and two German soldiers are among those killed. Gen Markus Kneip, commander of foreign troops in north Afghanistan, and Takhar provincial Governor Abdul Jabar Taqwa were wounded.

Afghanistan has seen a series of attacks in recent months by militants on police and military targets.
