India gears up for first Formula One Grand Prix

India is preparing to host its first ever Formula One Grand Prix race, amid criticism the event could divide the country's rich and poor even further.

Local landowners whose plots were needed for the circuit received big sums in compensation, but many of their workers have been left without jobs.

Organisers say tickets for the race have been selling well but even cheapest seats - at 2,500 rupees ($51; £32) - are unaffordable for most Indians.

Andrew North reports.
