BP to keep Gulf of Mexico oil cap closed for extra day

BP has been told it can keep the cap on its damaged well shut for at least another 24 hours, despite fears of a seep on the Gulf of Mexico seabed.

The firm has pledged to monitor the sea floor for signs of a new leak closely.

On Monday, Coast Guard Adm Paul Zukunft said: "We've had no indication of oil being released at the site."

James Reynolds reports.
