Wikileaks: US view of China's role in Africa revealed

US diplomats suspect China's growing role in Africa is not altruistic but economic, according to secret memos published on Wikileaks.

The cables from a senior American official in Nigeria describe China as "aggressive and pernicious", and that "China is in Africa primarily for China".

However, the memo goes on to say the US does not consider China a military, security or intelligence threat.

Humphrey Hawksley reports.
