Snowstorms and freezing temperatures hit US Midwest

A powerful snowstorm which hit the US Midwest closing highways in several states and leading to more than 1,600 flights in Chicago, has now moved further east.

At least six weather-related deaths were reported as the storm system dropped nearly 2 feet of snow in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In Minneapolis on Sunday, heavy snow caused the inflatable roof of the Metrodome to collapse.

Bad weather is now being reported in parts of northwest Indiana and southeast Michigan.

Wendy Uruqhart reports.
