US Senate scraps 'don't ask don't tell' gay military ban

The United States Senate has voted to scrap the ban on gay men and women openly serving in the military.

Senators voted 65 to 31 to end the "don't ask, don't tell policy" that has forced gay soldiers to conceal their sexuality for the past 17 years.
