Al-Qaeda underwear bomb plot foiled by insider

A plot by al-Qaeda in Yemen to attack a US-bound plane was foiled by an insider who infiltrated an al-Qaeda-linked terror cell, according to US officials.

The inside source is now reported to be safely out of Yemen.

The US Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism Advisor, John Brennan, told America's ABC channel that the device is now being studied by the FBI and it had never been an active threat.
