Bob Dylan awarded US Medal of Freedom

Musician Bob Dylan was among 13 recipients of the US Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honour.

President Barack Obama said Dylan's music "redefined not just what music sounded like but the message it carried and how it made people feel", adding he was a "really big fan".

This year's medal winners also included astronaut John Glenn and Israeli President Shimon Peres.
