War dogs: Canines provide comfort on the front lines

The US military has a long and rich history of using dogs to wage war. With their heightened sense of smell and their ability to be trained for dangerous tasks, dogs have proven their worth on the battlefield and saved countless lives as a result.

They also provide companionship and comfort to humans fighting far from home in miserable conditions.
