NY policeman Ramos funeral: Commissioner Bratton hails 'hero' officer

A New York police officer shot and killed last week was "a hero", the city's police commissioner has said.

Rafael Ramos and his partner Wenjian Liu were killed by a man who claimed to be avenging the killing of unarmed black people by police. Both men were promoted posthumously to Detective First Grade.

Police Commissioner William Bratton also told mourners that Officer Ramos, who had been studying to become police chaplain, was being made an honorary department chaplain of the 84th precinct.
