New York City bomb suspect 'tried to maximise casualties'

US prosecutors say 27-year-old Bangladeshi immigrant Akayed Ullah was inspired by the Islamic State (IS) group when he carried out Monday's bombing.

Charges against him were announced in New York by prosecutor Joon Kim. They include providing support to a terrorist organisation, using a weapon of mass destruction and bombing a public place.
