There have been no changes to the control of Carlisle and South Lakeland councils, where one third of the seats were up for grabs.

Labour's slender majority in Carlisle was further reduced as the party lost a seat to an Independent.

South Lakeland District Council was retained by the Lib Dems, with Labour losing a seat to the Conservatives.

Votes were also cast in the Cumbria Police PCC elections, with the result expected on Friday afternoon.
