Regarded as one of the finest opera singers of the 20th Century - Dame Joan Sutherland was known for her remarkable technique, and her voice of intense warmth and startling range.

Here - following the announcement of her death at the age of 83 - look back the stage presence of La Stupenda, or The Stunning One, as she was nicknamed by the Italians.
