Veteran performer Liza Minnelli has cancelled seven dates on her current tour after coming down with bronchial pneumonia.

"I'm greatly disappointed that I will not be able to continue my tour," she said in a statement. "I do not want to let down my fans."

Minnelli, 64, had been due to perform in Spokane, Washington on Friday.

She has pledged to be back on stage on 20 November - the date of a scheduled show in Staten Island, New York.

The other cancelled dates include appearances in Indianapolis on 30 October, Boston on 7 November and Nashville on 13 November.

Minnelli is currently promoting her new CD Confessions, a collection of cover versions recorded with her longtime pianist Billy Stritch.

The daughter of film star Judy Garland, Minnelli was seen earlier this year performing Beyonce's Single Ladies track in Sex and the City 2.

Earlier this month, she told CNN chat show host Larry King she had no plans to marry again after her first four marriages all ended in divorce.
