British composer records 205 national anthems for 2012 London Olympics

A British composer and conductor has recorded 205 national anthems, fresh for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Has the process been a musical joy or tortuous?

Philip Sheppard told BBC Radio 5 live: "Unbelievably, about 70 of the anthems are still in copyright.

"I'm rearranging, creating new versions," Sheppard explained to Peter Allen on 5 live Drive. "One hundred and forty of the countries have never had their anthems played in a medal ceremony."
